  • Description

    Chicken polyclonal to Aquaporin 9/AQP-9
  • Host species

  • Tested applications

Suitable for: WB, ELISA, IHC-Fr, IHC-P, ICC/IFmore details
  • Species reactivity

    Reacts with: Rat
Predicted to work with: Mouse, Human
  • Immunogen

Synthetic peptide corresponding to Rat Aquaporin 9/AQP-9 (C terminal).
    (Peptide available as ab56296)

  • General notes

The control peptide, because of its low MW (<3kD), is not suitable for Western blotting. It should be used for ELISA or antibody blocking to confirm antibody specificity. We recommend the use of 0.5-1% milk in all primary/secondary antibody-enzyme conjugate incubations in order to suppress non-specific bands.

    Previously labelled as Aquaporin 9.

  • Target

    • Function

Forms a channel with a broad specificity. Mediates passage of a wide variety of non-charged solutes including carbamides, polyols, purines, and pyrimidines in a phloretin- and mercury-sensitive manner, whereas amino acids, cyclic sugars, Na(+), K(+), Cl(-), and deprotonated monocarboxylates are excluded. Also permeable to urea and glycerol.
    • Tissue specificity

Highly expressed in peripheral leukocytes. Also expressed in liver, lung, and spleen.
    • Sequence similarities

Belongs to the MIP/aquaporin (TC 1.A.8) family.
    • Domain

Aquaporins contain two tandem repeats each containing three membrane-spanning domains and a pore-forming loop with the signature motif Asn-Pro-Ala (NPA).

    Thank you for contacting us.

Thank you for your patience while I collected the information that you have requested. I apologize that this has taken so long.

We currently have no matching products to the rat extracelluar domains for these targets that have been tested in flow. I have been gathering information about the immunogens to determine if some of our products may target the extracellular domain and may work in flow.

AQP9: Our products ab15127 and ab15129 may recognize extracelluar site. The immunogens are from the C-terminal cytoplasmic domain of rat AQP9, not the extracellular domain.

ECAD/CAD1: Ab53226 may/or may not recognize correct site but I have been unable to attain the information needed to determine whether the epitope is extracellular. I will let you know when I have that information. This product would qualify for our 100% Abreview Testing Discount.

EpCAM: Product number ab68892 is rat compatable and recognizes an extracellular region but has not been tested in flow. This product would qualify for our 100% Abreview Testing Discount.

I hope this information is helpful to you. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any more advice or information.

I have now received feedback from the source of those antibodies regarding the homologies of the immunogens and the species you are interested in. Unfortunately the rabbit and bore sequences were not available for performing a homology search. Regarding the human protein, the homology of human aquaporins 7, 8 and 9 with the immunogens was around 80%. This is relatively low, and I therefore am not sure the antibodies will work in human samples. I'm sorry I couldn't help you more regarding the rabbit and bore sequence homologies and hope the information regarding the human homologies will be useful,
