Vision of high temporal resolution depends on careful regulation of photoresponse kinetics, beginning with the lifetime of activated photopigment. The activity of rhodopsin is quenched by high-affinity binding of arrestin to photoexcited phosphorylated photopigment, which effectively terminates the visual transduction cascade. subfunctionalized expression of Arr3a is in M- and L-cones, and Arr3b is in S- and UV-cones. The inactivation of arr3a by morpholino knockdown technology resulted in a severe delay in photoresponse recovery which, under bright light conditions, was rate-limiting. Arr3a activity partially overlapped with the function of the cone-specific kinase Grk7a involved in initial response recovery.

ab174435 staining arrestin in 4 dpf zebrafish retina sections by IHC-Fr. The tissue was fixed with paraformaldehyde and an antigen retrieval step was performed with sodium citrate pH 6. Blocking of the sample was done with 5% BSA in PBS containing 01% Tween 20 and 0.5% Triton X, for 60 minutes at 23°C, followed by staining with ab174435 at 1/500 in blocking solution for 16h at 4°C. An alexa 568 conjugated goat anti-mouse polyclonal antibody at 1/1000 was used as the secondary antibody. Nuclei are stained in blue with DAPI. Arrestin is present in photoreceptors (red)
