    Ligand-activated transcriptional activator. Binds to the XRE promoter region of genes it activates. Activates the expression of multiple phase I and II xenobiotic chemical metabolizing enzyme genes (such as the CYP1A1 gene). Mediates biochemical and toxic effects of halogenated aromatic hydrocarbons. Involved in cell-cycle regulation. Likely to play an important role in the development and maturation of many tissues.

  • Immunofluorescent analysis of 4% paraformaldehyde fixed HeLa cells labeling Aryl hydrocarbon Receptor with ab190797 at 1/100 dilution. Goat anti rabbit IgG (Alexa Fluor®555)  was used as a secondary antibody at 1/200 dilution. Counterstained with DAPI (blue). Negative controls also shown.

    This data was developed using the same antibody clone in a different buffer formulation containing PBS, BSA, glycerol, and sodium azide (ab190797).

    Lane 4: HeLa whole cell lysate (40 µg)
    Lanes 1 - 4: Merged signal (red and green). Green - ab190797 observed at 96 kDa. Red - loading control, ab8245, observed at 37 kDa.

    ab190797 was shown to specifically react with Aryl hydrocarbon Receptor when Aryl hydrocarbon Receptor knockout samples were used. Wild-type and Aryl hydrocarbon Receptor knockout samples were subjected to SDS-PAGE. Ab190797 and ab8245 (Mouse anti GAPDH loading control) were incubated overnight at 4°C at 1000 dilution and 1/10000 dilution respectively. Blots were developed with Goat anti-Rabbit IgG H&L (IRDye® 800CW) preabsorbed ab216773 and Goat anti-Mouse IgG H&L (IRDye® 680RD) preabsorbed ab216776 secondary antibodies at 1/10000 dilution for 1 hour at room temperature before imaging.

    This data was developed using the same antibody clone in a different buffer formulation containing PBS, BSA, glycerol, and sodium azide (ab190797).
