  • Relevance
Bovine Adrenal Medulla peptide (BAM 22P). This opioid peptide, a 22 amino acid fragment of the enkephalin precursor preproenkephalin A, binds with high affinity to all three known opioid receptors (micro, kappa, and delta), indicating a possible function in pain transmission. Recent studies have implicated BAM 22P in sensory neuron activation.

Customer reviews and Q&As

Thank you for your enquiry. This antibody is sourced externally. From correspondence with our originator I understand that you may have contacted them directly. However, I can tell you in response to your questions; 1 How has the antibody to BAM22P been characterized? A) It was previously characterized through radioimmunoassays but is now characterized through use of dot blots. 2 What is the selectivity of anti-BAM22P for the COOH terminus? A. There are 3 amino acids of importance as antigenic determinants, which are Pro-11, Glu-12, and the C-terminal Gly-22. I would also like to direct you to reference #2, listed below, as a source of helpful information regarding this topic. 3 Have you determined if this antibody shows cross-reactivity to the enkephalins, dynorphins or beta-endorphin? A) This antibody does not cross-react with Met-Enkephalin or BAM12P. 4 In your specification sheet, it was written that The antibody is routinely tested by dot blot. What does dot blot mean? What is this test for? A) A dot blot is a form of immunoblotting, where a small amount of antigen is loaded onto a piece of membrane in the form of a dot and the antibody is then added, followed by a secondary antibody conjugated to HRP. Developing is performed similar to that of a western blot where there is a colorimetric change, giving a positive or negative result. 5 Do you know any published literature in which your product of anti-BAM22P was used? If you do, please provide the information. A) Here are the references, which are also listed on our web-site, which discusses uses with this particular antibody. 1.
