    Target

    • Function

Beta-adrenergic receptors mediate the catecholamine-induced activation of adenylate cyclase through the action of G proteins. Beta-3 is involved in the regulation of lipolysis and thermogenesis.
    • Tissue specificity

      Expressed mainly in adipose tissues.
    • Sequence similarities

Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family. Adrenergic receptor subfamily. ADRB3 sub-subfamily.
    • Cellular localization

      Cell membrane.

      Asked on Oct 02 2014

      Answer

Neither of the beta 3 Adrenergic Receptor antibodies you asked about have been tested for ICC/IF, only IHC. If you do decide to try one, you will be better off with ab140709. The immunogen shares only 22% identity with the mouse protein, and the immunogen for ab140713 shares 75% identity. Reactivity with mouse has not, however, been tested by experiment.

      Question

I have a few questions regarding the IHC image for this product:
      1. Please confirm if the pink stain is due to IHC or eosin staining the cytoplasm?
      2. Please confirm if the blue spots are nuclei and if this staining is due to haematoxylin?
      3. If this figure is generated by IHC, what enzyme is the secondary antibody conjugated to, and what is the enzyme substrate?

      Asked on Aug 28 2014

      Answer

Q1: Please confirm if the pink stain is due to IHC or eosin staining the cytoplasm?
A1: The slides are not stained with Eosin. The enzyme substrate used in these experiments is Vector Red which produces a fuchsia colored deposit.

Q2: Please confirm if the blue spots are nuclei and if this staining is due to haematoxylin?
A2: Yes, the slides are counterstained with Hamatoxylin which stains the nuclei blue.

Q3: If this figure is generated by IHC, what enzyme is the secondary antibody conjugated to, and what is the enzyme substrate?
A3: The image shown on our datasheet is of IHC using formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded human tissue. The enzyme used is alkaline phosphatase and the substrate is Vector Red.
