Target

  • Function

Central regulator of hemostasis. It serves as a critical cofactor for the prothrombinase activity of factor Xa that results in the activation of prothrombin to thrombin.
  • Tissue specificity

    Plasma.
  • Involvement in disease

    Factor V deficiency
Thrombophilia due to activated protein C resistance
    Budd-Chiari syndrome
    Ischemic stroke
    Pregnancy loss, recurrent, 1
  • Sequence similarities

Belongs to the multicopper oxidase family.
    Contains 3 F5/8 type A domains.
    Contains 2 F5/8 type C domains.
    Contains 6 plastocyanin-like domains.
  • Domain

    Domain B contains 35 x 9 AA tandem repeats, and 2 x 17 AA repeats.
  • Post-translational
    modifications

Thrombin activates factor V proteolytically to the active cofactor, factor Va (formation of a heavy chain at the N-terminus and a light chain at the C-terminus).
Sulfation is required for efficient thrombin cleavage and activation and for full procoagulant activity.
Activated protein C inactivates factor V and factor Va by proteolytic degradation.
Phosphorylation sites are present in the extracellular medium.
  • Cellular localization

    Secreted.

    Question

I have a few questions on the anti-FV antibodies you offer:
-anti-FV antibody (Biotin) ab48230: has it been tested whether thisantibody recognizes activated FV (FVa) and/or activated FV products?
Also, is it known whether this antibody cross reacts with species other than human FV?
-anti-FV antibody ab61368: has it been tested whether this antibodyrecognizes activated bovine FV (FVa) and/or activated bovine FV products? Also, is it known whether this antibody cross reacts with species other than bovine FV?
-anti-FV antibody ab21037:is it known whether this antibody cross reacts with species other than human FV?
I'm looking for an antiFV antibody that is highly cross reactive and nonspecific, hence my questions.
    Many thanks,

    Answer

First of all I would like to apologise for the delay in getting back to you.I really appreciate your patience and comprehension.

-In regards to antibody ab21037, I am afraid it has only been tested against human factor V, therefore it is unknown whether it could cross react with other species.

    - Product ab61368 is a polyclonal antibody and it may bind to multiple epitopes, recognising the activated protein as well. The only other species we have tested against for cross reactivity is human and it cross reacts very weakly.

-Regarding ab48230, this antibody can recognize FVa and it has not been tested against other species yet.

I hope this information is helpful to you. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any more advice or information.
