Target
-
Function
General activator of RNA polymerase which utilizes different TFIIIB complexes at structurally distinct promoters. The isoform 1 is involved in the transcription of tRNA, adenovirus VA1, 7SL and 5S RNA. Isoform 2 is required for transcription of the U6 promoter. -
Sequence similarities
Belongs to the TFIIB family.
Contains 1 TFIIB-type zinc finger. -
Post-translational
modificationsPhosphorylated upon DNA damage, probably by ATM or ATR. -

All lanes : Anti-BRF1 antibody (ab74221) at 0.04 µg/ml
Lane 1 : HeLa whole cell lysate at 50 µg
Lane 2 : HeLa whole cell lysate at 15 µg
Lane 3 : HeLa whole cell lysate at 5 µg
Lane 4 : 293T whole cell lysate at 50 µg
Predicted band size: 74 kDa
Observed band size: 74 kDa
Additional bands at: 140 kDa, 200 kDa. We are unsure as to the identity of these extra bands. -
HeLa whole cell lysate (1mg) was subjected to immunoprecipitation using ab74221 (3µg/mg lysate; lane 1) or a control IgG antibody (lane 2). 20% of the immunoprecipitates were used for Western blotting and bands were identified using ab74221 at a concentration of 1µg/ml. A band at the predicted molecular weight of 74kDa was detected using chemiluminescence with an exposure time of 3 seconds.
