Using a new lot of anti-C1q (see above), I saw aberrant results in my ELISA: response was 2 times lower than expected and no flattening occurs at the highest concentration of C1q, thus no sigmoidal curves were found. After trouble shooting, we discovered that the new batch of anti C1q (lot GR4563-7) wasn’t appropriate (anymore?).
Your data sheet of this article stated that it must be stored at 4 °C, no freezing allowed. Also in your antibody storage guide this was mentioned for these enzyme-conjugated antibodies. However, my colleague always has aliquoted this antibody at 50 µl/vial and stored these vials in -80 °C freezer. No problems were found when these aliquots were used in the ELISA. Why do you have the recommendation to not freeze this antibody, while we see good results after freezing?
My colleague remembered that this lot has been stored more than the acceptable two weeks (written in your antibody storage guide) at 4°C prior to the freezing step. So probably, the troubles with these batch is due to the fact that this antibody is stored too long at 4 °C. What are your thougts about this?
Inconcluding, what’s your recommendation for the storage of this antibody?
Thanks in advance,

Thank you for contacting us. I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing problems with this antibody.
We changed the storage conditions of this product to ‘4 deg C do not freeze’ back in 201. This was because the buffer now included a HRP-stabiliser which is incompatible with storage at lower temperatures.
The recommended storage instructions for this antibody at the moment is store at 4C do not freeze.
Could you please send me the protocol followed and results for further investigation of lot?
I hope this information is helpful to you. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any more advice or information.
