Target

  • Relevance
Cadherin 7 (also known as CDH7) is a type II atypical cadherin from the cadherin superfamily. This protein is a calcium dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein comprised of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region and a highly conserved cytoplasmic tail. Type II (atypical) cadherins are defined based on their lack of a HAV cell adhesion recognition sequence. Cadherins mediate cell-cell binding in a homophilic manner, contributing to the sorting of heterogeneous cell types and the maintenance of orderly structures.
  • Cellular localization
Cell membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein.

  • Paraffin-embedded human colon cancer tissue stained for Cadherin 7 using ab237754 at 1/400 dilution in immunohistochemical analysis.

After dewaxing and hydration, antigen retrieval was mediated by high pressure in a citrate buffer (pH 6.0). Section was blocked with 10% normal goat serum 30 minutes at RT. Then primary antibody (1% BSA) was incubated at 4°C overnight. The primary is detected by a biotinylated secondary antibody and visualized tissue using an HRP conjugated SP system.

  • A549 (Human lung carcinoma cell line) cells stained for Cadherin 7 (green) using ab237754 at 1/133 dilution in ICC/IF.

The cells were fixed in 4% formaldehyde, permeabilized using 0.2% Triton X-100 and blocked in 10% normal goat serum. The cells were then incubated with the primary antibody overnight at 4°C. Secondary used is an Alexa-Fluor®488-conjugated Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG (H+L). Counterstained with DAPI.
