    Target

    • Function

Major glycoprotein of vascular endothelium. May play a critical role in the binding of endothelial cells to integrins and/or other RGD receptors.
    • Tissue specificity

Endoglin is restricted to endothelial cells in all tissues except bone marrow.
    • Involvement in disease

Defects in ENG are the cause of hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia type 1 (HHT1) [MIM:187300, 108010]; also known as Osler-Rendu-Weber syndrome 1 (ORW1). HHT1 is an autosomal dominant multisystemic vascular dysplasia, characterized by recurrent epistaxis, muco-cutaneous telangiectases, gastro-intestinal hemorrhage, and pulmonary (PAVM), cerebral (CAVM) and hepatic arteriovenous malformations; all secondary manifestations of the underlying vascular dysplasia. Although the first symptom of HHT1 in children is generally nose bleed, there is an important clinical heterogeneity.

      Answer

      Thank you for your reply.

For dilution of the antibodies ready to use in the experiment, as discussed in the previous email I can suggest to dilute antibodiesin PBS orTBS. It is sometimes helpful to include 0.2% Tween 20, however this may need to be optimized individually. If there is high background staining, then 2 to 5% blocking agent can also be included.

You may like to consider reviewing our online protocols from our Scientific support protocols and troubleshooting pages. IHC documents are under Immunostaining. These will contain some further information that I hope may be helpful:

      Asked on Dec 14 2011

      Answer

Thank you for contacting us. In general, the immunoglobulin class (IgG1, IgG2a, IgGM, etc.) and light chain sub-class (kappa or lambda) is listed on the online datasheet. When the light chain is not listed, then the light chain sub-class has not been determined. In these instances, it is probably that the light chain sub-class is kappa, given that murine serum immunoglobulins are 95% kappa and 5% lambda, as discussed in the reference at the following link: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3116408 Mol Immunol. 1987 Jul;24(7):751-7. PMID:3116408 Of the antibodies your customer has enquired about, The light chain sub-class has been determined for three: ab90960, ab86896, and ab1385. All are kappa light chain. I hope this information is helpful to you. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any more advice or information.
