Target

  • Function

Integrin alpha-L/beta-2 is a receptor for ICAM1, ICAM2, ICAM3 and ICAM4. It is involved in a variety of immune phenomena including leukocyte-endothelial cell interaction, cytotoxic T-cell mediated killing, and antibody dependent killing by granulocytes and monocytes.
  • Tissue specificity

    Leukocytes.
  • Sequence similarities

Belongs to the integrin alpha chain family.
    Contains 7 FG-GAP repeats.
    Contains 1 VWFA domain.
  • Domain

The integrin I-domain (insert) is a VWFA domain. Integrins with I-domains do not undergo protease cleavage.
  • Cellular localization

    Membrane.

Images

  • IHC image of CD11a staining in a section of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded normal human spleen*, performed on a Leica Bond system using the standard protocol B. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH6, epitope retrieval solution 1) for 20 mins. The section was then incubated with ab200022 at 1/100 dilution for 15 mins at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated ABC system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX. The inset negative control image is taken from an identical assay without primary antibody.

For other IHC staining systems (automated and non-automated) customers should optimize variable parameters such as antigen retrieval conditions, primary antibody concentration and antibody incubation times.
