Question

Many thanks for your quick reply.

Can I just confirm that the antibody specifically recognizes active CD11a/CD18 (LFA-1) or does it all recognize active CD11b/c/d with CD18?

Thanks,

Answer

Thank you for your patience. My colleague is out of office this week.

I regret to inform you that we do not have any direct data that answers your question. However,we know the scientist described the antibody as being able to be used to detect the activation state of each integrin receptor which suggests that it does recognize CD11a, b, c and d.

Apologies! If you need any further assistance in the future, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Question

Product code: 13219
Inquiry: I am looking for an antibody that will be able to distinguish between inactive and active LFA-1 (CD11a/CD18) expression. The data sheets suggest that the antibody is to an epitope on CD18 that is only exposed once it has dimerised with the alpha chain and the integrin has been activated? Is this specific for active LFA-1 or beta 2 integrins in general?

Asked on Aug 22 2012

Answer

Thank you for contacting us.

The antibody was found to recognize a unique activation epitope of LFA-1, which is essentially absent on resting cells e.g. lymphocytes so this product may be used as a reporter of the activation state of CD11/CD18 receptors.

I hope this information is helpful to you. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any more advice or information.
