Target

  • Function
Receptor for the Fc region of IgG. Binds complexed or aggregated IgG and also monomeric IgG. Mediates antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) and other antibody-dependent responses, such as phagocytosis.
  • Tissue specificity
Expressed on natural killer cells, macrophages, subpopulation of T-cells, immature thymocytes and placental trophoblasts.
  • Sequence similarities
    Contains 2 Ig-like C2-type (immunoglobulin-like) domains.
  • Post-translational
    modifications
Glycosylated. Contains high mannose- and complex-type oligosaccharides.
The soluble form is produced by a proteolytic cleavage.
  • Cellular localization
Cell membrane. Secreted. Exists also as a soluble receptor.

Answer

Thank you for your query.

Unfortunately I have received the information that the cross-reactivity of anti-CD16 antibody [KD1] (ab124049) is quite weak. I donot therefore think that this clone would be suitable for the experiments you are hoping to perform. We will be updating our datasheet to reflect this.

Unfortunately, it is difficult to tell if the same is likely to be true of the other CD16 antibodies that we have as they are generally raised against the human epitope and I have not been able to perform sequence comparison with the horse protein as I have not found a reliable sequence. If you have a sequence of the horse CD16 protein I can preform this analysis for you.

I am sorry that I could not be of more help in this instance. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

Answer

Thank you for your enquiry and your interest in our products. This is to confirm that ab124049 recognizes CD16 and it detect with sheep CD16. The isotype is indeed the IgG2a and ab124049 has been tested and characterized for Flow cytometry. We are not aware of these specific publications. Since this clone is licensed, it may well be that several companies may sell clone KD1. For your information, we also sell the FITC-conjugated version (ab124042) of this parent antibody (ab124049) which allows direct immunostaining without applying a compatible secondary antibody. You may wish to take a look at the product datasheet of this labelled antibody as well. I hope this helps and if I can assist further, please do not hesitate to contact me.
