Target

  • Relevance

    CFP10 (10 kDa culture filtrate protein) is a low molecular weight protein isolated from Mycobacterium tuberculosis culture filtrates. CFP10 and the 6 kDa early secretory antigen of T cells (ESAT6) are secreted in abundance by Mycobacterium tuberculosis and are frequently recognized by T cells from infected people. The genes encoding these proteins have been deleted from the genome of the vaccine strain Bacille Calmette Guerin (BCG). CFP10 is one of a small number of secreted M. tuberculosis proteins now identified, that appear to play key roles in tuberculosis pathogenesis and in the stimulation of immunity.

Question

Hi Tech,

I have have a few question below:

He wanted to try the below antibodies

i. CFP10

ii. ESAT-6

iii. Ag85B

However I also have few enquiries;

1) All of these antibodies are compatible to full length antigen, but in my case I'm using epitopes. Does that means I can expect the same functionality of these antibodies towards my epitopes?

2) Do abcam provides antibody synthesis service because I have 2 additional epitopes that I am having trouble in finding primary antibody.

Thanks

Answer

Thank you for your interest in Abcam.

1) Indeed, I can confirm that all relevant antibodies (CFP10: ab45074, ab64753, ab64754; ESAT6: ab26246, ab45073; Ag85B: ab43019) have been generated against the full-length proteins. The exact binding sequences of these have unfortunately not been determined, except for ab26246 (residues EQQWNFAGIEAAA at positions 3-15). So if you are working with protein fragments (or epitopes), we cannot guarantee that these antibodies will work for you, as the binding sites might not be present and therefore the antibody might not bind. I could ask the lab whether the epitopes have been mapped and whether the antibodies would bind your fragments, if you could provide some details to your peptides.

2) We continually add antibodies and other protein detection products to our catalogue but we do not offer custom-made antibodies. However, we are happy to pass on the contact details of the following companies that do offer this service:
