Applications

Our Abpromise guarantee covers the use of ab41104 in the following tested applications.

The application notes include recommended starting dilutions; optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

Application Abreviews Notes
WB Use a concentration of 1 µg/ml. Detects a band of approximately 38 kDa (predicted molecular weight: 38 kDa).Can be blocked with Human Cre recombinase peptide (ab41103).

Target

  • Relevance
Cre-recombinase is a 38 kDa DNA recombinase derived from the P1 bacteriophage. It is highly specific for a 34 bp DNA sequence (loxP) found in P1 DNA. It catalyzes site-specific recombination between two 34-base-pair LOXP sites. Its role is to maintain the phage genome as a monomeric unit-copy plasmid in the lysogenic state. It is homotetramer when bound to DNA and belongs to the "phage" integrase family.
  • Alternative names

Answer

Thank you for contacting us.

Unfortunately, because we carry over 80,000 products, it isn't feasible for us to keep small sample sizes of our products.

However, we are happy to reassure our customers that all of our products are covered by our Abpromise, which guarantees that the product will work in the applications and species specified on the datasheet, or we will offer a replacement, credit, or refund within 6 months of purchase. This means for the mentioned anti-Cre recombinase antibodies that we guarantee them to be specific for cre-recombinase and to detect the protein in Western blot.

To our knowledge, these antibodies have not been tested in immunohistochemistry (IHC) and immunofluorescence (IF) yet, but there is no reason why they should not work. Therefore, I can offer a discount off a future purchase if you buy one of these antibodies now, test it in IHC and/or IF and submit feedback to us in the form of an Abreview. It doesn’t matter whether the Abreview is positive or negative, we would just really like to receive your feedback. The discount would be to the value of 1 free primary antibody.

If you are interested in this offer, please follow these steps:

1. Reply to this e-mail to let me know if you would like to proceed and which antibody you would like to test in IHC/IF. I will then send a discount code. This code must be issued before purchasing the antibody so please wait for my reply before ordering.

2. Purchase the antibody either by phone, fax, or online (www.abcam.com).

3. Test it in IHC/IF.

4. Let us know the results, positive or negative, using our Abreview system (this will take about 10 minutes and images are great if you have them!). To find out more about our Abreview system, please visit: https://www.abcam.com/abreviews.

5. After the review is submitted to us, the discount code becomes active. Simply place your new order by phone, fax, or on the web and mention the discount code. The discount can be redeemed for any primary antibody ordered and the discount code is valid for 4 months after issue.

We are always pleased to obtain feedback about our products and any information is greatly appreciated! Even if the antibody turns out to be unsuitable for IHC/IF, you will still receive the discount on your next purchase after your Abreview has been submitted.

Once you have found a suitable antibody for your experimental settings, we would be pleased to make you an offer for a larger order. So please do not hesitate to contact us with further details.

Please let me know if you have any questions about this offer and I would be happy to help you further.

Answer

Thank you very much for your interest in our Cre-recombinase antibodies. To our knowledge, neither ab40011 nor ab41104 havebeen tested in immunohistochemistry, and therefore wedo not know which onemight be better. However, as ab24608 they are both rabbit-polyclonals andtheyvery well might work. Which immunohistochemistry would you like to perform: on frozen tissue sections (IHC-Fr) or on paraffin-embedded (or perfused?) tissue sections (IHC-P)? I can offer a discount off a future purchase if you buy ab40011or ab41104 now, test it in IHC and submit feedback to us in the form of an Abreview. Thank you for contacting us. The isotype is IgG1. We have 2 polyclonal; available ab40011 and ab41104 and one monoclonal which is ab101071 is IgM isotype. Please have a look at the datasheets and select the product as per your requirements. We unfortunately do not have exactly same product as ab24607. I hope this information is nevertheless helpful to you. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any more advice or information.
