    Target

    • Relevance

Cre-recombinase is a 38 kDa DNA recombinase derived from the P1 bacteriophage. It is highly specific for a 34 bp DNA sequence (loxP) found in P1 DNA. It catalyzes site-specific recombination between two 34-base-pair LOXP sites. Its role is to maintain the phage genome as a monomeric unit-copy plasmid in the lysogenic state. It is homotetramer when bound to DNA and belongs to the "phage" integrase family.

      Question

In my lab we are interested in purchasing a good Cre-recombinase antibody. For years we used another antibody but this product is not available anymore. Therefore, we would first like to obtain small aliquots of your anti-Cre recombinase antibodies ab40011,ab41104 and ab101071 for testing in our immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence protocols for mouse brains. In case you had an antibody derived from full-length recombinant Cre, we would be very interested. We can make the testing data available to you. And if an antibody works well for our purposes, we would like to order a large batch of it. I look forward to a positive offer and wish you a nice day.

      Answer

      Thank you for contacting us.

Unfortunately, because we carry over 80,000 products, it isn't feasible for us to keep small sample sizes of our products.

However, we are happy to reassure our customers that all of our products are covered by our Abpromise, which guarantees that the product will work in the applications and species specified on the datasheet, or we will offer a replacement, credit, or refund within 6 months of purchase. This means for the mentioned anti-Cre recombinase antibodies that we guarantee them to be specific for cre-recombinase and to detect the protein in Western blot.

To our knowledge, these antibodies have not been tested in immunohistochemistry (IHC) and immunofluorescence (IF) yet, but there is no reason why they should not work. Therefore, I can offer a discount off a future purchase if you buy one of these antibodies now, test it in IHC and/or IF and submit feedback to us in the form of an Abreview. It doesn’t matter whether the Abreview is positive or negative, we would just really like to receive your feedback. The discount would be to the value of 1 free primary antibody.

If you are interested in this offer, please follow these steps:

      1. Reply to this e-mail to let me know if you would like to proceed and which antibody you would like to test in IHC/IF. I will then send a discount code. This code must be issued before purchasing the antibody so please wait for my reply before ordering.

      2. Purchase the antibody either by phone, fax, or online (www.abcam.com).

      3. Test it in IHC/IF.

      4. Let us know the results, positive or negative, using our Abreview system (this will take about 10 minutes and images are great if you have them!). To find out more about our Abreview system, please visit: https://www.abcam.com/abreviews.

      5. After the review is submitted to us, the discount code becomes active. Simply place your new order by phone, fax, or on the web and mention the discount code. The discount can be redeemed for any primary antibody ordered and the discount code is valid for 4 months after issue.

We are always pleased to obtain feedback about our products and any information is greatly appreciated! Even if the antibody turns out to be unsuitable for IHC/IF, you will still receive the discount on your next purchase after your Abreview has been submitted.

Once you have found a suitable antibody for your experimental settings, we would be pleased to make you an offer for a larger order. So please do not hesitate to contact us with further details.

Please let me know if you have any questions about this offer and I would be happy to help you further.
