  • Target

    • Function

Mediates the nuclear export of cellular proteins (cargos) bearing a leucine-rich nuclear export signal (NES) and of RNAs. In the nucleus, in association with RANBP3, binds cooperatively to the NES on its target protein and to the GTPase RAN in its active GTP-bound form (Ran-GTP). Docking of this complex to the nuclear pore complex (NPC) is mediated through binding to nucleoporins. Upon transit of an nuclear export complex into the cytoplasm, disassembling of the complex and hydrolysis of Ran-GTP to Ran-GDP (induced by RANBP1 and RANGAP1, respectively) cause release of the cargo from the export receptor. The directionality of nuclear export is thought to be conferred by an asymmetric distribution of the GTP- and GDP-bound forms of Ran between the cytoplasm and nucleus. Involved in U3 snoRNA transport from Cajal bodies to nucleoli. Binds to late precursor U3 snoRNA bearing a TMG cap. Several viruses, among them HIV-1, HTLV-1 and influenza A use it to export their unspliced or incompletely spliced RNAs out of the nucleus. Interacts with, and mediates the nuclear export of HIV-1 Rev and HTLV-1 Rex proteins. Involved in HTLV-1 Rex multimerization.
    • Tissue specificity

Expressed in heart, brain, placenta, lung, liver, skeletal muscle, pancreas, spleen, thymus, prostate, testis, ovary, small intestine, colon and peripheral blood leukocytes. Not expressed in the kidney.
    • Sequence similarities

      Belongs to the exportin family.
      Contains 10 HEAT repeats.
      Contains 1 importin N-terminal domain.
    • Post-translational
      modifications

Phosphorylated upon DNA damage, probably by ATM or ATR.
    • Cellular localization

Cytoplasm. Nucleus > nucleoplasm. Nucleus > Cajal body. Nucleus > nucleolus. Located in the nucleoplasm, Cajal bodies and nucleoli. Shuttles between the nucleus/nucleolus and the cytoplasm.

    Answer

Thank you for your enquiry. I wish to sincerely apologize for the delay.

I would like to reassure you that our antibodies have all been tested successfully and would be covered by our guarantee in the applications listed on the datasheets. Therefore, anyanti-CRM1 antibody tested in the species and application you are using should be suitable for your applications.

Also, although we produce many in-house antibodies, we obtain other antibodies from a wide range of sources. Therefore, comparison experiments will not often have been done.

If you wish to be more certain, I can suggest choosing the antibody that has been best characterized. By this I mean the antibody that has been tested in the most applications and has the most data available (on the datasheet). My personal feeling is that the images for ab84375 look better, there are more application notes for IHC and more positive control choices, as such I would likely choose this product.

The IgG control for Anti-CRM1 ab84375 would be Rabbit polyclonal IgG ab27472. More information about this may be found at the following location:

    https://www.abcam.com/Rabbit-polyclonal-IgG-ab27472.html

I hope this information is helpful. Should you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask.

    Question

I am looking for a CRM1 antibody for IHC-P and found two of them on your website (ab77977 and ab84375). Which antibody would recommend for IHC-P? As much as I see the sample pictures, the staining with ab84375 looks more clear than the one with ab77977.   Could you also give me a catalog number for a control IgG which is appropriate these CRM1 antibodies?

If you wish to be more certain, I can suggest choosing the antibody that has been best characterized. By this I mean the antibody that has been tested in the most applications and has the most data available (on the datasheet). However in this case I do agree that ab84375 does look clearer.

I can recommened our Rabbit polyclonal IgG- ChIP Grade, ab27478 as a control IgG for either product. More information about this may be found at this location:

Please know that these products are covered by our Abpromise guarantee. We are happy to provide scientific support, replacement or refund should this product not perform as indicated on the datasheet. More information on our Abpromise may be found at the following link:

I look forward to hearing from you. Should you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask.
