  • General notes

The Life Science industry has been in the grips of a reproducibility crisis for a number of years. Abcam is leading the way in addressing the problem with our range of recombinant monoclonal antibodies and knockout edited cell lines for gold-standard validation.

One factor contributing to the crisis is the use of antibodies that are not suitable. This can lead to misleading results and the use of incorrect data informing project assumptions and direction. To help address this challenge, we have introduced an application and species grid on our primary antibody datasheets to make it easy to simplify identification of the right antibody for your needs.

Target

  • Function

Potent chemoattractant for neutrophils, and weaker for dendritic cells. Not chemotactive for T-cells, B-cells, monocytes, natural killer cells or granulocytes. Does not inhibit proliferation of myeloid progenitors in colony formation assays.
  • Tissue specificity

Expressed in heart, brain, placenta, lung, liver, skeletal muscle, kidney and pancreas. Highly expressed in normal tissue without inflammatory stimuli and infrequently expressed in cancer cell lines. Weakly expressed in monocyte-derived dendritic cells. Not detected in lung or unstimulated peripheral blood lymphocytes.
  • Sequence similarities

Belongs to the intercrine alpha (chemokine CxC) family.
  • Cellular localization

    Secreted.

    Question

Several months ago I bought the CXCL14 antibody (ab36622). In your protocol you use Antigen retrieval solution (Heat mediated - Buffer/Enzyme Used: Dako Target Retreival Solution), but you did not specify which one you use (since I found 5 different retrieval solutions). I would really appreciate if you send me this information.

    Answer

    Thank you for contacting us.

The protocol that you have referenced was actually provided to us by another customer so I do not have that specific information for you. However the Dako Target Retrieval Solution appears to be a modified citrate buffer pH6.1. This agrees with our standard antigen retrieval as we recommend a citrate buffer pH6.0.

I hope this information is helpful to you. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any more advice or information.
