    Cy5® Fast Conjugation Kit
  • Product overview

Cy5® Fast Conjugation Kit (ab188288) is an innovative technology that enables direct labeling of proteins, peptides or other biomolecules.
The easy-to-use, one step procedure allows researchers to covalently label biomolecules with only 30 seconds hands on time; furthermore conjugates are ready to use in less than twenty minutes. The researcher simply pipettes the biomolecule into a vial of lyophilized mixture containing the label of interest and incubates. Despite its apparent simplicity, the Fast Conjugation Kit process is sophisticated and generates conjugates with performance characteristics identical to, or better than, those prepared with laborious multistep conjugation procedures.
The technology is fully scalable (μg to grams) ensuring quality and consistency without any deterioration in the performance of the conjugate. As there are no separation or desalting steps, antibody recovery is 100%. Furthermore, the bond between the label and biomolecule is covalent, therefore the conjugate is extremely stable.

    Excitation Wave Length (nm): 647

    Emission Wave Length (nm): 665

    Emission Colour: Red

  • Notes

Cyanine dyes are commonly used as fluorescent labels for proteins, nucleic acids and small molecules. Cyanine Dye5 (Cy5®) has a strong absorption peak at 643nm and a secondary absorption peak at 605nm. The maximum emission peak is at 667nm, with an excitation coefficient of 2.5 x105 cm-1M-1. Cy5® can be used as an alternative to AlexaFluor® 647, and the phycobiliprotein Allophycocyanin.

The kit comes in 3 sizes for labelling recommended amounts of antibody:

    300 μg containing 3 reactions (each for 100 - 200 μg)

    1 mg containing 1 reaction (for 1 - 2 mg)

    30 μg containing 3 reactions (each for 10 - 20 μg)

The antibody to be labelled should be purified, in an appropriate buffer for conjugation and at a suitable concentration, as described in the protocol booklet. If not, consider using our antibody purification and concentration kits.
