RelevanceThe Cyp46 gene encodes a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily of enzymes. The cytochrome P450 proteins are monooxygenases which catalyze many reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids. This endoplasmic reticulum protein is expressed exclusively in the brain, where it converts cholesterol to 24S-hydroxycholesterol by adding a hydroxyl group to cholesterol, producing a product that is more soluble than cholesterol and able to be exported from the brain. Cyp46 is also known as 24S-cholesterol hydroxylase

Exposure time: 3 minutes.
Immunohistochemical analysis of paraffin-embedded mouse cerebrum tissue labeling CYP46 with ab244241 at 8.6µg/ml followed by a ready to use Goat Anti-Mouse IgG H&L (HRP polymer) (ab214879). Positive staining on mouse cerebrum. The section was incubated with ab244241 for 30 mins at room temperature. The immunostaining was performed on a Leica Biosystems BOND® RX instrument. Counterstained with Hematoxylin.
Secondary antibody only control: Secondary antibody is a ready to use Goat Anti-Mouse IgG H&L (HRP polymer) (ab214879).
Heat mediated antigen retrieval with Tris-EDTA buffer (pH 9.0, epitope retrieval solution2) for 20 mins.
