General notes
This antibody cocktail reacts with an immediate early antigen and an early CMV antigen. DDG9 is isotype IgG2a, kappa whilst CCH2 is isotype IgG1, kappa. The antibodies stain infected cells giving a nuclear staining pattern with an immediate early and an early antigen. In Western blot, DDG9 reacts with 76 kD protein, where as CCH2 reacts with a 43 kD protein.

Relevance
Cytomegalovirus is a member of the herpes virus group, which includes herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2, varicella zoster virus (which causes chicken pox), and Epstein Barr virus (which causes infectious mononucleosis). These viruses share a characteristic ability to remain dormant within the body over a long period. -
