Pathway
Amine and polyamine degradation; betaine degradation; sarcosine from betaine: step 2/2. -
Involvement in disease
Defects in DMGDH are the cause of DMGDH deficiency (DMGDHD) [MIM:605850]. DMGDHD is a disorder characterized by fish odor, muscle fatigue with increased serum creatine kinase. Biochemically it is characterized by an increase of N,N-dimethylglycine (DMG) in serum and urine. -
Sequence similarities
Belongs to the GcvT family. -

DMGDH protein was immunoprecipitation from 1mg of Human fetal liver whole cell lysate with ab198292 at 1/50 dilution. Western blot was performed from the immunoprecipitate using ab198292 at 1/1000 dilution. Anti-Rabbit IgG (HRP), specific to the non-reduced form of IgG, was used as secondary antibody at 1/1000 dilution. Lane 1: Input, Human fetal liver whole cell lysate, 10ug. Lane 2: IP of DMGDH from Human fetal liver whole cell lysate. Lane 3: IP using Rabbit monoclonal IgG (ab172730) instead of ab198292 in Human fetal liver whole cell lysate.
Blocking and dilution buffer and concentration: 5% NFDM/TBST.
