FunctionHydrolyzes DNA under acidic conditions with a preference for double-stranded DNA. Plays a major role in the degradation of nuclear DNA in cellular apoptosis during development. Necessary for proper fetal development and for definitive erythropoiesis in fetal liver, where it degrades nuclear DNA expelled from erythroid precursor cells.

Immunofluorescence analysis of paraformaldehyde-fixed HeLa cells, labeling DNASE2 using ab168782 at 10 µg/ml. Cells should be permeabilized by incubating for 15 minutes on ice with 2 mL of 0.1% Triton X-100 in PBS prior to staining.
