General notes
ab240000 is the carrier-free version of ab124802.
Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. The carrier-free buffer and high concentration allow for increased conjugation efficiency.
This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.
Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with <1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.
This product is compatible with the Maxpar® Antibody Labeling Kit from Fluidigm, without the need for antibody preparation. Maxpar® is a trademark of Fluidigm Canada Inc.
This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:
- - High batch-to-batch consistency and reproducibility
- - Improved sensitivity and specificity
- - Long-term security of supply
- - Animal-free production
Our RabMAb® technology is a patented hybridoma-based technology for making rabbit monoclonal antibodies. For details on our patents, please refer to RabMAb® patents.
We are constantly working hard to ensure we provide our customers with best in class antibodies. As a result of this work we are pleased to now offer this antibody in purified format. We are in the process of updating our datasheets. The purified format is designated 'PUR' on our product labels. Applications
The Abpromise guarantee
Our Abpromise guarantee covers the use of ab240000 in the following tested applications.
The application notes include recommended starting dilutions; optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.
Application | Abreviews | Notes |
---|---|---|
WB |
Use at an assay dependent concentration. Detects a band of approximately 70 kDa (predicted molecular weight: 57 kDa).
|
|
IHC-P |
Use at an assay dependent concentration. Perform heat mediated antigen retrieval with citrate buffer pH 6 before commencing with IHC staining protocol.

Target

Function
Transports L-glutamate and also L- and D-aspartate. Essential for terminating the postsynaptic action of glutamate by rapidly removing released glutamate from the synaptic cleft. Acts as a symport by cotransporting sodium. Negatively regulated by ARL6IP5. -
Tissue specificity
Expressed in all tissues tested including liver, muscle, testis, ovary, retinoblastoma cell line, neurons and brain (in which there was dense expression in substantia nigra, red nucleus, hippocampus and in cerebral cortical layers). -
Sequence similarities
Belongs to the sodium:dicarboxylate (SDF) symporter (TC 2.A.23) family. SLC1A1 subfamily. -
Post-translational
modificationsGlycosylated. -

Immunohistochemistry (Formalin/PFA-fixed paraffin-embedded sections) - Anti-EAAT3 antibody [EPR6774(B)] - BSA and Azide free (ab240000)
Immunohistochemistry (Formalin/PFA-fixed paraffin-embedded sections) analysis of human glioma tissue sections labeling EAAT3 with purified ab124802 at 1/1000 dilution (0.8 µg/ml). Heat mediated antigen retrieval using Bond Epitope Retrieval Solution 2 (pH 9.0). Rabbit specific IHC polymer detection kit HRP/DAB (ab209101) was used as the secondary antibody. Negative control: PBS instead of the primary antibody. Hematoxylin was used as a counterstain.
This data was developed using the same antibody clone in a different buffer formulation containing PBS, BSA, glycerol, and sodium azide (ab124802) -
Immunohistochemistry (Formalin/PFA-fixed paraffin-embedded sections) - Anti-EAAT3 antibody [EPR6774(B)] - BSA and Azide free (ab240000)
ab124802, at 1/500 dilution, staining EAAT3 in paraffin-embedded Human kidney tissue by Immunohistochemistry.
This data was developed using the same antibody clone in a different buffer formulation containing PBS, BSA, glycerol, and sodium azide (ab124802).
Perform heat mediated antigen retrieval with citrate buffer pH 6 before commencing with IHC staining protocol.
