Inquiry: Hi, I am working with recombinant hEGF and need an antibody for western blots. I just wanted to check that ab94898 would also detect mature EGF (˜6.2kDa) as well as the larger precursor (134kDa) that is referred to in the data-sheet western blot section. Cheers,

Thank you for your enquiry.
I can confirm that this particular antibody is sourced externally. The information we have is the following:
'To detect hEGF by Western Blot analysis this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1-0.2 µg/ml. Used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents the detection limit for recombinant hEGF is 1.5-3.0 ng/lane, under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.'
Normally the antibody should also recognize the larger precursor form. For immunization the native EGF protein was used which is part of the precursor.
I hope this information will be helpful to you. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
