Methylation of histone H3 at lysine 4 by Methyl transferases such as SET1, SET7/9, MLL and Trx among others occurs in mammals in several distinct genomic distributions. H3 (di-methyl K4) is associated with transcriptionally permissive euchromatin regions in the genome; in particular, Enrichment of H3 (di-methyl K4) is present across the body of genes, where contributes to mRNA processing.
Histone H3 (di-methyl K4) Quantification Kit (Colorimetric) (ab115052) allows the user to specifically measure global di-methylation of histone H3K4 colorimetrically, using a variety of mammalian cells (human, mouse, etc.) including fresh and frozen tissues, cultured adherent and suspension cells.
