Product details

Phosphorylation of histone H3 at serine 10 is conserved through eukaryotes, and an increase in phosphorylation has been shown to correlate with gene activation and cell growth. Histone H3 (phospho S10) is regulated by the cell cycle and has been used as a mitotic marker. In vitro studies have shown that H3 (phospho S10) is coupled to acetylation at the nearly K14 residue and that it is negatively impacted by H3 (methyl K9).

Histone H3 (phospho S10) Assay Kit (Colorimetric) (ab115127) allows the user to measure global histone H3 (phospho S10) quickly and consistently. The kit is ready-to-use and provides all the essential components needed to carry out a successful assay experiment and it suitable for specifically measuring global histone H3 phophorylation at Ser10 using a variety of mammalian cells including fresh and frozen tissues, cultured adherent and suspension cells.

Target data

The protein expressed by gene H3C1 is a core component of the nucleosome, which is essential for wrapping and compacting DNA into chromatin. This process restricts DNA accessibility to cellular machineries that use DNA as a template. Consequently, histones are central to transcription regulation, DNA repair, DNA replication, and chromosomal stability. DNA accessibility is regulated through a complex set of post-translational modifications of histones, known as the histone code, and through nucleosome remodeling. This supplementary information is collated from multiple sources and compiled automatically.
