Displays activity in several in vitro cancer cell functional assays. Potently (<1 mumol/L) inhibits lysophosphatidic acid-induced DNA synthesis in PC-3 prostate cancer cells, inhibits growth of RhoC-overexpressing melanoma lines at nanomolar concentrations. Selectively stimulates apoptosis of the metastasis-prone, RhoC-overexpressing melanoma cell lines. Acts at or downstream of MLK1 and upstream of SRF. Blocks MLK1 nuclear localization.

Biological description

Specific inhibitor of Rho pathway-mediated signaling and activation of serum response factor (SRF) transcription. Displays activity in several in vitro cancer cell functional assays.
