MW 500000 g/mol. Polymer of anhydroglucose routinely used for the selective precipitation of lipoproteins, probe hybridization of membrane-immobilized DNA, the release of DNA from DNA-histone complexes, and the inhibition of RNA binding to ribosomes. Used as an additive in probe hybridization solutions where its presence accelerates the rate of hybridization by 10 fold.
