MW 808.86 g/mol. Widely utilized tissue and protein stain. Used as a quantitative stain for histones at alkaline pH after acid extraction of DNA and as a protein stain in IEF (isoelectric focusing) and SDS-PAGE electrophoresis. Fluoresces in the near-infrared (NIR). Recommended as a replacement for Light Green SF yellowish in Masson's trichrome as its color is more brilliant and less likely to fade. Also used as a food dye.
