Biological function summary
HDAC2 HDAC8 and ROR gamma contribute significantly to cellular processes like cell cycle regulation apoptosis and immunological response. HDAC2 usually does not function alone but forms part of multiprotein complexes such as the Sin3 or NuRD complexes assisting in gene silencing. HDAC8 although less complex-associated than HDAC2 also contributes to similar biological processes. ROR gamma plays a critical role in Th17 cell differentiation influencing immune and inflammatory responses. These proteins regulate other genes and can impact various cellular functions supporting their involvement in cellular health and disease.
Pathways
HDACs like HDAC2 and HDAC8 are especially important in the acetylation-deacetylation pathway affecting the transcriptional regulation pathway. Moreover their activity ties closely with transcription factors and other proteins such as MEF2 and NF-kB which interact with HDACs to modulate gene expression. ROR gamma is integral to the ROR gamma pathway impacting the development of lymphoid tissue and the immune system. During this process it interacts with alternative splicing forms and controls genes associated with immune response.
