MW 338.32 g/mol. Fluorogenic substrate of β-glucosidase and β-glucocerebrosidase (also known as glucosylceramidase). Used for characterizing novel β-glucosidases. Also used in assays to evaluate deficiency in β-glucocerebrosidase activity related to Gaucher disease. Hydrolysis releases the fluorescent product 4-MU.
Fluorescence: λex 365 nm; λem 445 nm in 0.1 M sodium acetate pH 5.0 (after cleavage by β-glucosidase).
