C5orf51 also known as Chromosome 5 open reading frame 51 is a lesser-known protein that has a molecular weight of approximately 32 kDa. This protein is mainly expressed in the testis but lower levels of expression can be found in other tissues. It is a non-enzymatic protein indicating its role might not involve catalytic activity but possibly structural or regulatory functions. Because of its expression pattern it has been minimally characterized yet scientists consider it an area open for further exploration.
