Abcam has not and does not intend to apply for the REACH Authorisation of customers' uses of products that contain European Authorisation list (Annex XIV) substances.
It is the responsibility of our customers to check the necessity of application of REACH Authorisation, and any other relevant authorisations, for their intended uses.
Lysate preparation: Our lysates are made using RIPA buffer to which we add a protease inhibitor cocktail and phosphatase inhibitor cocktail (ratio: 300:100:10). This means that the protein of interest is denatured. If you require a native form of the protein please use the live cell version. Please refer to our lysis protocol for further details on how our lysates are prepared.
User storage instructions: Lyophilizate may be stored at 4°C. After reconstitution, store at -20°C for short-term storage or -80°C for long-term storage.

PI4K2A also known as phosphatidylinositol 4-kinase type 2 alpha is an enzyme involved in phospholipid signaling. It catalyzes the phosphorylation of phosphatidylinositol (PI) to generate phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate (PI4P). This enzyme is part of the PI4K family and typically has a mass of approximately 55 kDa. PI4K2A is primarily expressed in brain tissue but can also be found in other tissues such as heart and liver.
PI4K2A plays a significant role in cellular processes through its involvement in phosphoinositide turnover. It contributes to the synthesis of membrane phospholipids and helps regulate vesicle trafficking. PI4K2A functions as part of larger protein complexes involved in generating PI4P a precursor for producing phosphatidylinositol 45-bisphosphate (PI(45)P2) which is critical for various signaling pathways.
PI4K2A associates with the phosphoinositide signaling pathway and the endocytic pathway. In the phosphoinositide signaling pathway it interacts with other kinases to facilitate the production of PI4P and PI(45)P2 which serve as signaling molecules. Within these pathways PI4K2A collaborates with proteins like PI4KB to regulate membrane dynamics and endocytosis.
PI4K2A has connections to neurodegenerative diseases and some cardiovascular conditions. Abnormal PI4K2A expression or function may disrupt phosphoinositide balance affecting cellular signaling and leading to disease. It relates to the LRRK2 protein in Parkinson’s disease where dysregulated PI4P levels have implications for disease progression. Furthermore in cardiovascular disorders altered PI4K2A activity may impact heart muscle functionality contributing to disease development.
