REACH authorisation
Abcam has not and does not intend to apply for the REACH Authorisation of customers' uses of products that contain European Authorisation list (Annex XIV) substances.
It is the responsibility of our customers to check the necessity of application of REACH Authorisation, and any other relevant authorisations, for their intended uses.

Lysate preparation: Our lysates are made using RIPA buffer to which we add a protease inhibitor cocktail and phosphatase inhibitor cocktail (ratio: 300:100:10). This means that the protein of interest is denatured. If you require a native form of the protein please use the live cell version. Please refer to our lysis protocol for further details on how our lysates are prepared.

User storage instructions: Lyophilizate may be stored at 4°C. After reconstitution, store at -20°C for short-term storage or -80°C for long-term storage.

This product is subject to limited use licenses from The Broad Institute, ERS Genomics Limited and Sigma-Aldrich Co. LLC, and is developed with patented technology. For full details of the licenses and patents please refer to our limited use license and patent pages.

Supplementary information

This supplementary information is collated from multiple sources and compiled automatically.

RNF167 also known as RING finger protein 167 is an E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase with a molecular mass of approximately 61 kDa. This protein facilitates the transfer of ubiquitin from E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes to specific substrate proteins marking them for degradation via the proteasome. RNF167 is expressed in various tissues with notable presence in the brain indicating its potential importance in neural functions.
Biological function summary

The functions of RNF167 are pivotal in regulating the stability and turnover of membrane proteins which are key to cellular homeostasis. It plays a role in endosomal sorting and trafficking ensuring that proteins reach their proper intracellular destinations. RNF167 forms part of a larger complex involving the ESCRT machinery which is essential for multivesicular body pathway and lysosome degradation processes.

Pathways

RNF167 interacts in significant cellular mechanisms impacting protein degradation and recycling. It participates in the endosomal-lysosomal pathway closely interacting with other proteins like VPS29 which aids in the recycling of transmembrane receptors. The protein also has roles related to the ubiquitin-proteasome system intersecting with pathways involving protein quality control and it functions in concert with proteins like HRS in these processes.

RNF167 has been implicated in neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer's disease where dysregulation of protein degradation pathways contributes to neurofibrillary tangles and plaque formation. Its dysfunction can influence pathways linked to proteins such as APP. Additionally RNF167 associates with cancer where alterations in ubiquitin ligase activity can lead to uncontrolled cell proliferation with links noted to proteins such as MDM2 that regulate the tumor suppressor p53.
