Abcam has not and does not intend to apply for the REACH Authorisation of customers' uses of products that contain European Authorisation list (Annex XIV) substances.
It is the responsibility of our customers to check the necessity of application of REACH Authorisation, and any other relevant authorisations, for their intended uses.
Lysate preparation: Our lysates are made using RIPA buffer to which we add a protease inhibitor cocktail and phosphatase inhibitor cocktail (ratio: 300:100:10). This means that the protein of interest is denatured. If you require a native form of the protein please use the live cell version. Please refer to our lysis protocol for further details on how our lysates are prepared.
User storage instructions: Lyophilizate may be stored at 4°C. After reconstitution, store at -20°C for short-term storage or -80°C for long-term storage.

Thymosin beta 4 is a small actin-binding peptide known for its role in the regulation of actin polymerization and depolymerization. Sometimes called Tβ4 or beta thymosin this peptide has a mass of approximately 5 kDa. It is widely expressed in various tissues especially in wound sites circulatory system and the central nervous system. The peptide consists of 43 amino acids and its structure allows it to sequester actin monomers influencing the cytoskeleton dynamics within cells.
Thymosin beta 4 influences several cellular processes including cell migration proliferation and differentiation. It is not part of a large complex but directly interacts with actin to modulate its behavior. Through its regulation of actin filament formation it plays a significant role in wound healing tissue regeneration and inflammatory responses. Furthermore it contributes to the migration of endothelial cells highlighting its importance in angiogenesis.
Thymosin beta 4 contributes significantly to cell motility and the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) pathway. It interacts with the protein profilin in the regulation of actin dynamics impacting cellular processes like cell movement and angiogenesis. By influencing these pathways Thymosin beta 4 aids in the body's repair mechanisms providing cellular structural support under varying physiological conditions.
Thymosin beta 4 is associated with cardiovascular diseases and fibrotic disorders. It has a potential protective effect in ischemic heart disease where it contributes to heart repair by modulating actin and promoting endothelial cell migration. In fibrosis its regulatory effects on actin filaments may impact the excessive tissue scarring. Thymosin beta 4 also interacts with proteins like beta-adrenoreceptors during cardiovascular stress responses demonstrating its multi-faceted role in health and disease.
