Li, Ming Yuan, et al used Magnetic Conjugation Kit (ab269890) as part of screening for SFKs activated upon Dengue infection. They used the kit to conjugate Magnetic beads to anti-phospho-SFK antibodies for use in mass spectrometry.
(a) Large-scale immunoprecipitation of activated SFKs was performed on anti-phospho-SFK antibodies conjugated to the magnetic beads from mock- and Dengue-infected BHK21 and Vero E6 cells (MOI 2, 24 h). Isolated proteins were resolved by SDS-PAGE and detected by silver staining. (b) Entire lanes on gels were sliced into 2-mm sections and subjected to trypsin digest. The peptide mix was processed and analysed by an LTQ Orbitrap mass spectrometer. This allowed the identification of three members Src, Fyn and Lyn, and several SFK-regulated substrates in Dengue-infected samples.

25 μg and 5 μg Goat anti-rabbit antibody were added to each of two Mini vials of magnetic particles, and to 25 μL of 1% magnetic beads from a leading competitor, and processed as per the respective protocols. The conjugates were used to immunoprecipitate rabbit IgG from rabbit serum. The eluted samples were run by SDS-PAGE and analysed by Western blot against rabbit IgG. Abcam's Magnetic Conjugation Kit has a greater binding capacity and coupling efficiency than the competitor products, and allows you to detect the antigen of interest with fewer reagents. Lane 1 : Rabbit IgG control; Lanes 2 and 4 : Competitor; Lanes 3 and 5 : Magnetic Conjugation Kit (ab269890).

Magnetic Conjugation Kit (ab269890) allows conjugation of antibodies to specially treated magnetic particles without the need for extensive optimisation of the conjugation reaction.

The 0.5 μm specially treated iron oxide magnetic particles offer you the right balance between high surface area and fast separation. The binding capacity of our magnetic particles is greater than other magnetic particles on the market, and twice that of leading competitors. This allows you to reach the desired sensitivity with fewer particles and therefore minimize the risk of nonspecific binding.

Covalent attachment of antibodies to magnetic particles is ideal for immunoprecipitation experiments and provides a more stable alternative to noncovalent attachment or antibodies using protein A or protein G resin.
