Product details

Bovine IL-18 ELISA Kit (ab277387) is an in-vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Bovine IL-18 in serum (Bovine IL-18 concentration is low in normal serum/plasma, and may not be detectable in this assay), plasma and cell culture supernatants.

This assay employs an antibody specific for Bovine IL-18 coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and Bovine IL-18 present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed, and biotinylated anti-Bovine IL-18 antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of Bovine IL-18 bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

Target data

Pro-inflammatory cytokine primarily involved in epithelial barrier repair, polarized T-helper 1 (Th1) cell and natural killer (NK) cell immune responses. Upon binding to IL18R1 and IL18RAP, forms a signaling ternary complex which activates NF-kappa-B, triggering synthesis of inflammatory mediators. Synergizes with IL12/interleukin-12 to induce IFNG synthesis from T-helper 1 (Th1) cells and natural killer (NK) cells. Involved in transduction of inflammation downstream of pyroptosis : its mature form is specifically released in the extracellular milieu by passing through the gasdermin-D (GSDMD) pore.
