Product details

Bovine IL-1 beta ELISA Kit (ab273202) is an in-vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of bovine IL-1beta in serum, plasma (EDTA or citrate plasma using as an anticoagulant, heparin is not recommended) and cell culture supernatants.

This assay employs an antibody specific for bovine IL-1beta coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and IL-1beta present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-bovine IL-1beta antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of IL-1beta bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

Target data

Potent pro-inflammatory cytokine. Initially discovered as the major endogenous pyrogen, induces prostaglandin synthesis, neutrophil influx and activation, T-cell activation and cytokine production, B-cell activation and antibody production, and fibroblast proliferation and collagen production. Promotes Th17 differentiation of T-cells. Synergizes with IL12/interleukin-12 to induce IFNG synthesis from T-helper 1 (Th1) cells. Plays a role in angiogenesis by inducing VEGF production synergistically with TNF and IL6. Involved in transduction of inflammation downstream of pyroptosis : its mature form is specifically released in the extracellular milieu by passing through the gasdermin-D (GSDMD) pore.
