Product details

Bovine IL-21 ELISA Kit (ab273189) is an in-vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Bovine IL-21 in serum, plasma and cell culture supernatants.

This assay employs an antibody specific for Bovine IL-21 coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and IL-21 present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed, and biotinylated anti-Bovine IL-21 antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of IL-21 bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

Target data

Cytokine with immunoregulatory activity. May promote the transition between innate and adaptive immunity. Induces the production of IgG(1) and IgG(3) in B-cells. Implicated in the generation and maintenance of T follicular helper (Tfh) cells and the formation of germinal-centers. Together with IL6, control the early generation of Tfh cells and are critical for an effective antibody response to acute viral infection (By similarity). May play a role in proliferation and maturation of natural killer (NK) cells in synergy with IL15. May regulate proliferation of mature B- and T-cells in response to activating stimuli. In synergy with IL15 and IL18 stimulates interferon gamma production in T-cells and NK cells (By similarity). During T-cell mediated immune response may inhibit dendritic cells (DC) activation and maturation (By similarity).
