Product details
Canine Galectin-3 ELISA Kit (ab273178) is an in-vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Canine Galectin-3 in serum, plasma and cell culture supernatants.
This assay employs an antibody specific for Canine Galectin-3 coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and Canine Galectin-3 present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed, and biotinylated anti-Canine Galectin-3 antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of Canine Galectin-3 bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

Biological function summary
Galectin-3 participates in cell growth regulation apoptosis and immune system modulation. Galectin-3 does not typically integrate into larger molecular complexes but it interacts with a variety of cell surface and extracellular matrix molecules. Its function influences processes like cell differentiation and angiogenesis where it can act as a regulator leveraging its ability to bind glycans on cell surfaces and matrix components.
Pathways
Galectin-3 contributes to the regulation of pathways such as the MAPK signaling pathway and the Wnt signaling pathway. In the MAPK pathway it influences cell proliferation and survival. Galectin-3 interacts with proteins like β-catenin in the Wnt pathway assisting in transcriptional regulation and cell fate determination. These pathways are vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and responding to extracellular signals.
