Product details
Kidney Injury Molecule-1 in vitro ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is designed for the quantitative measurement of Kidney Injury Molecule-1 protein in dog biological fluids.
In this assay the KIM-1 present in samples reacts with the anti-KIM-1 antibodies which have been adsorbed to the surface of polystyrene microtitre wells. After the removal of unbound proteins by washing, the Detection Antibody, biotin conjugated anti-KIM-1, is added and complexes are formed. Following a wash step, the horseradish peroxidase (HRP) conjugated Streptavidin is added and complexes are formed. After another washing step, the complexes are assayed by the addition of a chromogenic substrate, 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB). The quantity of bound enzyme varies directly with the concentration of KIM-1 in the sample tested; thus, the absorbance, at 450 nm, is a measure of the concentration of KIM-1 in the test sample. The quantity of KIM-1 in the test sample can be interpolated from the standard curve constructed from the standards, and corrected for sample dilution.

Biological function summary
The TIM 1 protein functions as a receptor involved in T cell activity modulation and innate immune response regulation. It is known to bind phosphatidylserine on apoptotic cells which fosters communication between dying cells and phagocytes. TIM 1 does not typically exist as part of a larger complex but its interactions with other molecules is important for its role in the immune system. The protein’s activity influences cytokine production and this can affect inflammation processes.
Pathways
TIM 1 is involved in key immune response pathways like the signaling pathways of T cells and the broader adaptive immune response. This protein has been linked with the enhancement of Th2 cytokine production impacting allergic response signaling. It interacts with related proteins like TIM 3 and TIM 4 which together contribute to the fine-tuning of immune responses. Understanding TIM 1 within these pathways helps in grasping its regulatory potential in T-cell mediated immunity.
