Product details
COVID-19 N-Protein Human IgM ELISA Kit (ab276184) is an in vitro indirect ELISA for the semi-quantitative measurement of human IgM antibody against SARS-CoV-2 N protein in human serum.
Standard 96-well plates (12 strips with 8 wells/strip) are coated with the SARSCoV-2 N protein, which combines with the corresponding antibody present in a sample. When a secondary anti-human Antibody-HRP is added, a complex of Antibody-HRP human IgM antibody virus N antigen forms on the microplate. A TMB substrate is added and a blue color is generated. The depth of color is relative to the amount of the anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgM antibody present. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.
The Positive Control is from an inactivated serum sample which contains SARS-COV-2 N protein human IgM antibody. We do not know the exact amount of SARS-COV-2 N protein human IgM antibody in the Positive Control sample. The Positive Control can be used as calibration curve for interpretation purposes in different assays.

Biological function summary
The N-Protein functions as a structural component of the coronavirus. It facilitates the encapsidation of the viral genome and forms part of the viral replication-transcription complexes. The N-Protein interacts with other viral proteins such as the membrane (M) protein indicating its involvement in viral assembly and release. It influences the host cell's response to infection by modulating various cellular processes.
Pathways
The COVID-19 N-Protein participates in the replication and transcription pathway of SARS-CoV-2. It engages with RNA polymerase and NSP3 to support efficient viral RNA synthesis. This protein is related to the structural pathway of viral particles where it ensures the stability and packaging of the viral genome alongside proteins like the S (spike) and E (envelope) proteins.
