Product details

Feline IL-12p40 ELISA Kit (ab273231) is an in-vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Feline IL-12p40 in serum, plasma and cell culture supernatants (feline IL-12p40 concentration is low in normal serum and plasma samples and may not be detectable in this assay).

This assay employs an antibody specific for feline IL-12p40 coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and IL-12p40 present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed, and biotinylated anti-feline IL-12p40 antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of IL-12p40 bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

Target data

Cytokine that can act as a growth factor for activated T and NK cells, enhance the lytic activity of NK/lymphokine-activated killer cells, and stimulate the production of IFN-gamma by resting PBMC.. Associates with IL23A to form the IL-23 interleukin, a heterodimeric cytokine which functions in innate and adaptive immunity. IL-23 may constitute with IL-17 an acute response to infection in peripheral tissues. IL-23 binds to a heterodimeric receptor complex composed of IL12RB1 and IL23R, activates the Jak-Stat signaling cascade, stimulates memory rather than naive T-cells and promotes production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. IL-23 induces autoimmune inflammation and thus may be responsible for autoimmune inflammatory diseases and may be important for tumorigenesis (By similarity).
