Interpolated concentrations of native Artemin in human A431 cell supernatant.
The concentrations of Artemin were measured in duplicates, interpolated from the target standard curves and corrected for sample dilution. Undiluted samples are as follows : A431 cell supernatant 50%. The interpolated dilution factor corrected values are plotted (mean +/- SD, n=2). The mean target concentration was determined to be 37.5 pg/mL in A431 cell supernatant.

Serum from eight individual healthy Artemin female donors was measured in duplicate.
Interpolated dilution factor corrected values are plotted (mean +/- SD, n=2). Seven samples tested below the standard curve. The detectable sample had an Artemin concentration of 8.0 pg/mL.

Human Artemin ELISA kit (ab283538) is a single-wash 90 min sandwich ELISA designed for the quantitative measurement of Human Artemin protein in human serum and cell culture supernatant samples. It uses our proprietary SimpleStep ELISA® technology. Quantitate Human Artemin with 1.5 pg/mL sensitivity.
SimpleStep ELISA® technology employs capture antibodies conjugated to an affinity tag that is recognized by the monoclonal antibody used to coat our SimpleStep ELISA® plates. This approach to sandwich ELISA allows the formation of the antibody-analyte sandwich complex in a single step, significantly reducing assay time. Artemin, also known as enovin or neublastin, is a protein that is encoded by the ARTN gene. ARTN is a secreted ligand of the glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) subfamily and TGF-beta superfamily of proteins. Artemin serves as a ligand for the GFR-alpha-3-RET receptor complex and can activate the GFR-alpha-1-RET receptor complex. The antibodies in this product were raised to the mature sequence of human Artemin.

Biological function summary
Artemin is a significant modulator of neuronal survival and neurite extension. It forms a signaling complex with its receptor components the GDNF family receptor alpha 3 (GFRα3) and the receptor tyrosine kinase (RET). This complex initiates signaling cascades essential for embryonic neuronal development and adult neuroprotection. Artemin selectively activates certain pathways that promote neuronal survival and regenerative responses.
Pathways
Artemin engages with the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/Protein Kinase B (PI3K/AKT) and the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK/ERK) pathways. These pathways are critical for cell survival proliferation and differentiation. Artemin closely associates with other neurotrophic factors such as GDNF within these pathways suggesting a shared or complementary role in neuroprotection.
