Product details
Abcam's anti-Bordetella pertussis IgG Human in vitro ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is designed for the accurate qualitative measurement of IgG class antibodies against Bordetella pertussis in Human serum and plasma.
A 96-well plate has been precoated with Bordetella pertussis antigens to bind cognate antibodies. Controls or test samples are added to the wells and incubated. Following washing, a horseradish peroxidase (HRP) labelled anti-Human IgG conjugate is added to the wells, which binds to the immobilized Bordetella pertussis-specific antibodies. TMB is then catalyzed by the HRP to produce a blue color product that changes to yellow after adding an acidic stop solution. The density of yellow coloration is directly proportional to the amount of Bordetella pertussis IgG sample captured in plate.

Biological function summary
The function of Bordetella pertussis IgG involves the human adaptive immune response where it aids in recognizing and neutralizing foreign pathogens like pertussis toxin. This IgG antibody does not form part of a larger complex itself but plays a critical role in the collective immune strategy. By binding with high affinity to the pertussis toxin the antibody blocks its interaction with host cells a step integral for the toxin’s ability to interfere with cellular processes and harm the host.
Pathways
Several components including Bordetella pertussis IgG play a role in the immune recognition and response pathways specifically the humoral immune response. This antibody works in conjunction with other immune proteins like memory B cells and helper T cells which aid in generating a stronger response upon future exposure to the pathogen. The action of Bordetella pertussis IgG is essential in the adaptive immune pathway reinforcing the overall defense mechanism against such bacterial pathogens.
