Product details
Human c-Myc ELISA Kit (ab277452) is an in-vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Human c-Myc in serum (human c-Myc concentration is low in normal serum/plasma, and may not be detectable in this assay), plasma and cell culture supernatants.
This assay employs an antibody specific for Human c-Myc coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and Human c-Myc present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed, and biotinylated anti-Human c-Myc antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human c-Myc bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

Biological function summary
C-Myc is involved in regulating cell growth and proliferation. It forms part of the Myc/Max complex which binds to DNA to regulate gene expression. This activity affects cellular metabolism ribosome biogenesis and cell cycle entry emphasizing its regulation of cellular energy and stress response. Its expression levels critically govern normal cellular functions and homeostasis.
Pathways
C-Myc plays an important role in the cell cycle pathway and apoptosis regulation. Specifically c-Myc is associated with the Wnt signaling pathway which influences cellular proliferation and differentiation. It also interacts with other proteins like Cyclin D1 influencing cell cycle control. These interactions ensure c-Myc's involvement in regulating key processes related to cell proliferation and stability.
