Interpolated concentrations of native CAMK2B in human brain tissue extract, based on a 100 μg/mL extract load.
The concentrations of CAMK2B were measured in duplicate and interpolated from the CAMK2B standard curve and corrected for sample dilution. The interpolated dilution factor corrected values are plotted (mean +/- SD, n=2). The mean CAMK2B concentration was determined to be 37 ng/mL in human brain tissue extract.

The concentrations of CAMK2B were measured in duplicate and interpolated from the CAMK2B standard curve and corrected for sample dilution. The interpolated dilution factor corrected values are plotted (mean +/- SD, n=2). The mean CAMK2B concentration was determined to be 200 ng/mL in SH-SY5Y cell extract, 64 ng/mL in HEK293T cell extract, 52 ng/mL in MCF-7 cell extract, 76 ng/mL in A431 cell extract and 13 ng/mL in A20 cell extract.

Human CAMK2B ELISA Kit (ab234572) is a single-wash 90 min sandwich ELISA designed for the quantitative measurement of CAMK2B protein in cell culture extracts and tissue extracts. It uses our proprietary SimpleStep ELISA® technology. Quantitate Human CAMK2B with 1.28 ng/ml sensitivity.
SimpleStep ELISA® technology employs capture antibodies conjugated to an affinity tag that is recognized by the monoclonal antibody used to coat our SimpleStep ELISA® plates. This approach to sandwich ELISA allows the formation of the antibody-analyte sandwich complex in a single step, significantly reducing assay time. See the SimpleStep ELISA® protocol summary in the image section for further details. Our SimpleStep ELISA® technology provides several benefits:
- Single-wash protocol reduces assay time to 90 minutes or less

Biological function summary
Without referring directly to CaMKII beta this protein contributes to synaptic plasticity which influences learning and memory in neural cells. It functions as part of a multimeric complex forming a holoenzyme with other CaMKII isoforms like CaMKII alpha gamma and delta. The structural dynamics of its autophosphorylation regulate its prolonged activity independent of calcium and calmodulin affecting downstream signaling.
Pathways
Without directly mentioning CaMKII beta it is essential in the Ca2+/calmodulin signaling pathway critical for regulating neuronal activity. Additionally this kinase participates in the cardiac conduction system influencing the heartbeat. Related proteins like calcineurin and protein kinase A interact in these signaling pathways amplifying the role of CaMKII beta in translating calcium bursts into longer-term cellular responses.
