Sandwich ELISA - Human CD80 ELISA Kit (B7-1) (AB256392)
Interpolated concentrations of native CD80 in human serum and plasmas.
The concentrations of CD80 were measured in duplicates, interpolated from the CD80 standard curves and corrected for sample dilution. Undiluted samples are as follows : serum 50%, plasma (EDTA) 50%, plasma (citrate) 50%, and plasma heparin 50%. The interpolated dilution factor corrected values are plotted (mean +/- SD, n=2). The mean CD80 concentration was determined to be 464 pg/mL in serum, 514 pg/mL in plasma (EDTA), 298 pg/mL in plasma (citrate), and 326 pg/mL in plasma (heparin).

Product details
Human CD80 ELISA Kit (B7-1) (ab256392) is a single-wash 90 min sandwich ELISA designed for the quantitative measurement of CD80 (B7-1) protein in cell culture media, cell culture supernatant, cit plasma, edta plasma, hep plasma, and serum. It uses our proprietary SimpleStep ELISA® technology. Quantitate Human CD80 (B7-1) with 31 pg/ml sensitivity.
SimpleStep ELISA® technology employs capture antibodies conjugated to an affinity tag that is recognized by the monoclonal antibody used to coat our SimpleStep ELISA® plates. This approach to sandwich ELISA allows the formation of the antibody-analyte sandwich complex in a single step, significantly reducing assay time. See the SimpleStep ELISA® protocol summary in the image section for further details. Our SimpleStep ELISA® technology provides several benefits:
- Single-wash protocol reduces assay time to 90 minutes or less
- High sensitivity, specificity and reproducibility from superior antibodies
- Fully validated in biological samples
- 96-wells plate breakable into 12 x 8 wells strips
A 384-well SimpleStep ELISA® microplate (ab203359) is available to use as an alternative to the 96-well microplate provided with SimpleStep ELISA® kits.
Human CD80, also known as T-lymphocyte activation antigen CD80 and Activation B7-1 antigen, is a B7, type I membrane protein encoded by the gene *CD80*. CD80 is found on the membrane of dendritic cells, activated B and T cells, monocytes, and antigen-presenting cells (APC). CD80 functions as a receptor for CD28 and CTLA-4, which results in T and B-cell activation, proliferation, and differentiation.

Biological function summary
CD80 plays a significant role in the immune system's ability to distinguish between self and non-self. It belongs to the B7 family and participates in the formation of immunological synapses between T cells and antigen-presenting cells. This interaction is essential for triggering T cell proliferation and cytokine production forming a part of the adaptive immune response. CD80's expression increases in response to pathogen recognition enhancing the immune system's efficiency.
Pathways
CD80 is integral to the regulation of T cell-mediated immune responses. It is involved in the CD28 co-stimulatory pathway which is vital for T cell activation and function. In this pathway CD80 interacts with proteins like CD28 and CTLA-4 to modulate immune activation and regulate immune tolerance. The proper function of CD80 within this pathway ensures a balanced immune reaction preventing autoimmunity while allowing effective defense against pathogens.
