Serum from ten individual healthy human female donors was measured in duplicate one donor of which was non-detectible (ND) by this assay.

Interpolated dilution factor corrected values are plotted (mean +/- SD n=2). The mean CEA concentration was determined to be 1027.57 pg/mL with a range of ND – 4257.59 pg/mL.

Interpolated concentrations of native CEA in human MCF7 and colon homogenate extract samples based on 250 and 125 µg/mL extract loads respectively.

The concentrations of CEA were measured in duplicate and interpolated from the CEA standard curve and corrected for sample dilution. The interpolated dilution factor corrected values are plotted (mean +/- SD n=2). The mean CEA concentration was determined to be 3584.91 pg/ml in MCF7 and 3812.56 pg/mL in colon homogenate extract.

How the assay works

Human CEA ELISA Kit, Chemiluminescent (ab326436) SimpleStep Ignite™ ELISA employs capture antibodies conjugated to an affinity tag that is recognized by the monoclonal antibody used to coat our SimpleStep ELISA® plates. This approach to sandwich ELISA allows the formation of the antibody-analyte sandwich complex in a single step during a 30 min only incubation, significantly reducing assay time. By utilizing a chemiluminscent detection method this improves the sensitivity and dynamic range when compared to traditional colorimetric ELISAs.

Target data

Cell surface glycoprotein that plays a role in cell adhesion, intracellular signaling and tumor progression (PubMed : 10864933, PubMed : 10910050, PubMed : 2803308). Mediates homophilic and heterophilic cell adhesion with other carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecules, such as CEACAM6 (PubMed : 2803308). Plays a role as an oncogene by promoting tumor progression; induces resistance to anoikis of colorectal carcinoma cells (PubMed : 10910050).. (Microbial infection) Receptor for E.coli Dr adhesins. Binding of E.coli Dr adhesins leads to dissociation of the homodimer.
